Operation Kitchen Shipshape

Yesterday I spent six hours organizing the kitchen up in CT. The plates, silverware, barware, cookware, bakeware, prep equipment, and appliances are now all organized and tidy.

I am so happy.

When we moved in back in '07 I just unpacked randomly - dishes here, tools there, etc. - and since our renovations are now complete it's time to get the kitchen in gear.

I started with the spice rack (which is actually a spacious spice cabinet in our house).

Voila:Now I can actually find my desired seasoning without pulling every single container out of the cabinet - very, very helpful.

...but the pièce de résistance of the kitchen is my pot rack.

We installed the large copper pot rack during renovations, and before today it looked like this:Very nice, but very chaotic. I'd always have to go clanging through pots and pans in search of my desired device.

After much sorting and arranging today, here's the 'after' of my pot rack:All the sauce pans are together, all the fry pans are together, and all the stock pots are together; it's totally streamlined and orderly now. Yippie!

Here's a shot of the kitchen with the new backsplash, new pot rack set up, and six hours worth of organization:I'm thrilled to finally have the kitchen all spick-and-span, and I'm looking forward to making many delicious meals here in the future.
