Cocktails - Dark 'n' Stormy

Ingredients:

2 oz Gosling's Black Seal Rum
12 oz Ginger Beer (I prefer Barritts)
Lime Wedge

Directions:

-Place several ice cubes in a highball (or other tall) glass, add rum.
-Top with ginger beer, add a lime wedge (I like to squeeze the lime wedge to add a touch of citrus to the drink).
-Stir and enjoy.

Here's a Dark 'n' Stormy I enjoyed earlier this month in Maine:The Dark 'n' Stormy is the national drink of Bermuda. It's a very refreshing cocktail - ginger beer tastes like extra ginger-y ginger ale. The drink has the perfect amount of bite, spice, and sweetness. Cheers to Bermuda for this delicious cocktail!

ASPCA party at Tibi

Last night Chappy, Monty, and I headed downtown to the Tibi boutique for a cocktail party benefiting the ASPCA.We're loyal supporters of the ASPCA and love the important work they do. They also give great parties -- that are dog friendly!

Chappy and I were excited to be taking the dog with us for a night on the town. Monty had no idea what was going. On the car ride downtown he kept looking, sniffing, and wondering where we were going:
The busy scene inside Tibi:
Shoppers and dogs happily mingling together:
I ran into my beautiful buddy Taryn at the party. Her dachshunds are totally adorable!:(Monty got very jealous that I was holding another dog.)

Here we are with the famous Harold Moscowitz and his gorgeous author Mommy, Anisha Lakhani:
Both of the boys in this photo are princes... With Lorenzo Borghese:Monty and Lorenzo have a lot in common -- they're both Italian, both very handsome, and both sweet as could be.

But who knew Lorenzo and I had a lot in common? He's also from Short Hills and also attended Morristown-Beard:
Our happy family:
Monty and Chappy chilling out on the couch:
Someone was a little overwhelmed at the end of the night and wanted to be held:It was a wonderful party, and all three of us had a blast!

Stay tuned for Monty Monday... I'll post photos of Monty with all the cute doggies he met at the event.

Monty Monday - at the Hotel Marlowe

Monty and I stopped in Cambridge, MA at the Hotel Marlowe on our way home from Maine last week.

I've stayed at the hotel before and was happy to return, and Monty loooooooooooooooooves the Marlowe. If he ever runs away from home, this will be the first place I'll look for him.

We checked into our comfortable room:
And Monty, with his pink bunny, made a beeline for the faux mink throw:
Then he checked out the pretty view of the river:Later that night room service sent up an unexpected surprise for little M...

Vanilla ice cream! His all-time favorite:
He loved his special treat:
Delicious:
The next morning I gave him a bit of my yummy breakfast - 2 slices of turkey bacon for the little guy:(We've been trying to put some extra weight on Monty; I think the food on this trip may have done it.)

It was time for his weekly bath while we were traveling, so into the Marlowe tub he went:Note the hotel's towels match Monty's monogram.

He was all fresh and clean and ready for the stylish new animal-print collar he got as a welcome gift:
Looking good in zebra stripes:New collar, furry throws, treats, sweets, and a great room -- the Hotel Marlowe is tops in Monty's book.

Brass 1 Silk Wrap

I'm beginning to add some bright colored accents to my wardrobe as spring/summer approach...

I love this hot pink silk bracelet from Bhati Beads - It gives my wrist the perfect amount of pop:It's one long strand of pink silk with little gold rivet beads on it. You can tie the bracelet however you like and position the little beads however you like:
It's soft and comfortable, and I love the casual, girly look.

I'll be wearing this a lot in the coming warm months.

Careful with the Crustaceans

I'm up in Maine visiting with my family now.

It's beautiful here, but I'm bombarded by this every time I walk down the street:Shellfish, shellfish, and more shellfish. Eeek! I'm severely allergic and glad I packed more than one Epi-Pen...

Take that you seemingly friendly lobster cookie!:

Bedside Reading - Vol. I

I've received many emails from blog readers asking what I'm reading, what I'd recommend, etc...

I read a lot -- fiction, non-fiction, highbrow, lowbrow, travel books, NYC restaurant guides, etc. etc. etc. I also like to have many different things constantly in the shuffle of my reading rotation.

So, here's the current view of my nightstand:When the books/magazines of the nightstand change I'll photograph them so you can read/follow along...

Out and About - MCNY Winter Ball

Earlier this week we donned our formal togs and headed up to the Museum of the City of New York on Fifth Avenue @ E. 103rd Street.

The museum's Winter Ball is always a glamorous, fun evening; I look forward to this party every year.

Here I am with Lauren and Kate at the party, photo by DPC from NYSD:Unfortunately my handsome husband isn't in any of the NYSD pics, but he looked lovely in his tux and we had a great time together at the party.

For more photos and party coverage, check out DPC's entries here and here.

For more information on the museum please visit their website: Museum of the City of New York.

Alexis Bittar Jewelry

I recently popped into Alexis Bittar's Soho boutique looking for some jewelry to wear to the Museum of the City of New York party.

I found some fun pieces....

Here's my Alexis Bittar lucite cuff and necklace:I love the bold, chunky look of all his lucite jewelry, and I thought the gold contrasted well with the royal blue of my dress.

Snowy Connecticut

Lots and lots and lots of snow:
Icicles on the greenhouse:
Snowy river banks:
Snow capped post light:
Fluffy evergreen:
The gazebo, looking downright arctic:
No firing up the grill this week:The winter wonderland is beautiful, but I'm hoping the spring thaw comes soon.
